What it takes to start a franchise business

without comments

Running a successful business is more about attitude, enthusiasm and passion than anything else. Being part of a franchise means that the franchisor  provide you with the brand, training, best advice and constant support which allows you to focus on delivering your business but they cannot give you attitude. It is therefore important that before you consider a franchise or any other  business you ask yourself a few questions. What kind of person are you? Here is our check list.

  • Positive person who believes in a “can do” approach to life?
  • Committed to growing a successful business?
  • Someone who is willing to listen, learn and do?
  • Can communicate with other people?
  • Willing to do new things not done before (step outside your comfort zone)?
  • Able to talk to strangers?
  • Prepared to work hard to ensure my success?
  • Able to work on your own?
  • Prepared to build a business step by step and remain committed to a plan?
  • Good physical health?
  • Self reliant?
  • Support from your family?
  • Able to afford the investment required and support your upkeep whilst the business grows?
  • Comfortable operating within a territory?

If the answer is yes you stand a good chance to become a successful franchisee or even start you own business based on your own ideas.

Would the bank lend to me if I started a franchise?

without comments

My work recently announced redundancies. I hope I won’t be affected but if I am I may use the opportunity to open my own business franchise, either dog grooming or pet care. the problem is I wouldn’t have enough cash to buy into one. Would the bank lend to me?

I have an excellent credit rating according to experian but I do have some debt and a student overdraft. However, I was very surprised when I was refused a credit card a few months back (they said they thought I had enough debt), I only wanted it because it was interest free so I was going to move my balance from my original one to help pay it off (have subsequently paid it off) . My debts do not amount to more than 43000 (including student overdraft and a loan for when I got my eyes lasered). I always make the payments on time.

So my question is, do you think my bank would give me a loan to start up a franchise or do you think they ll think I have too much personal debt already? I work full time at present but would probably only do if I was made redundant, I calculated I would only be entitled to around £750 redundancy money if I were.
The problem is I dont have cash, I would only do this if I were made redundant in the next few months and I defo wont have cleared all my debts by then.
I have bought a flat but its mortgaged and ive barely paid any of it off yet as only bought it a year ago.

Was the film adaptation of 'Silent Hill' (2006) a missed opportunity?

The games franchise specialised in mind-altering psychological horror. Shame then that the film was so formulaic. Also, there was not enough featuring of ‘Pyramid Head’ for my liking.

Does any know anything about SMART ABC Franchise opportunities?

with one comment

My partner is a qualified spray painter/panel beater. He has been working for a business since he qualified although now feels its time to go self-employed. We have looked at different franchise opportunities and have identified SMART ABC as the best. However, clearly they are goin to tell you only the good bits and was wondering if anyone has any experience with the company and if they could give us any advice. All advice would be greatly appreciated.

William Peterson, say it ain’t so…?

with one comment

Did you hear that William Peterson will be leaving CSI?
How long before the entire franchise, folds like a house of cards?

The great actor William Peterson is leaving CSI for at least a while. Signs of his slow burnout with the series have been a poorly kept secret in the press as well as in the show’s scripts for at least some time.

Despite being involved in the production of the program, as well as one of the main characters of the ultrapopular series, Peterson wanted to spend more time on other acting opportunities such as stage work or cinema. Strangely, “MANHUNTER”, a 1986 film starring Peterson seemed the lay some o the basis for CSI series despite a noticeable relationship to the SILENCE OF THE LAMBS. In many ways, Peterson now seems a bit typecast as a crime fighting private investigator sleth of some sort.
