Since Idi Amin and beyond, black people alienate themselves from a “colonial” past. Is this right or wrong?

with one comment

White South Africa love their rugby and the Springbok emblem is synonymous with this. Once black people are more entrenched here in the U.K will they also do away with our emblems and symbols?See this report:
Springbok emblem under fire
Friday, October 10, 2008 (06:54:11)

Rugby’s coporate sponsors and its hallowed symbol the Springbok came under fire from delegates at the first day of a two-day National Sports Indaba held in Durban on Thursday.

Sports Portfolio Committee chairman Butana Komphela told delegates that "the Springbok divides us. We have a responsibility to unite our country on one national emblem"

"Minister, I want you to observe the arrogance of white people on the Springbok emblem," he said.

Komphela said that there could be "no negotiation" on the Springbok emblem.

When the floor was opened to the delegates, many speaker called for a resolution removing the Springbok emblem to be passed as soon as possbile.

Sports minister.Makhenkesi Stofile said: "My view is that emblems are not matters of life and death."

He said that his view was that there should be one national emblem, which all sporting codes would endorse. Komphela said that the Sharks rugby franchise’s failure to wear "Say no to racism" on their jerseys was nothing but "rampant racism" on the part of Mr Price. "Dealing with the legacy of apartheid cannot be dealt with by market forces," he said.

South African Rugby Union (SARU) chief executive Johan Prinsloo said that he could not participate in the debate on the emblem as he had not been authorised to do so and the Springbok emblem had not originally been on the agenda of the Indaba.

According to the sports ministry the main purpose of the indaba, among others, is to develop an integrated national strategy in order to accelerate the implementation of the national sports development agenda.

The indaba will focus on the number of critical topics such as "Politics, sport, transformation and excellence and access to resources".

Earlier in the day SA Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (Sascoc) president Moss Mashishi said the country’s poor Beijing Olympic results need to be examined without "stones being thrown at each other". He said the "painful lessons of this experience need to be examined soberly rather than be used an opportunity to throw stones at
each other".

South Africa’s able-bodied athletes only managed one silver medal –their worst result since being readmitted to the international sporting fold.

In contrast the country’s paralympians a month later enjoyed their best Paralympics to date, raking in 30 medals, including 21 golds, to finish sixth on the medals table.

Mashishi said that "now that we have given the big powers such as the Russians a fright we should put more resources into the team". Referring to the sports funding from the national lottery, Mashishi questioned why the control of those funds were not within the sporting fraternity.

An area that needed to be cleared up was the relationship between federations and school sport. "It’s an area that is grey and hazy," he said.

Mommanuk: Your answer is very rational and quite the way I think but lacking the perspective of the remnants of white colonialism. While the colonial powers continue on with the sure acquisition of monetary gain from colonialism,it is indeed those left behind that bare the brunt of reaction. Here in the U.K, we do not have a true democracy where majority rules. Minority rules here and our British characteristics are being successfully eroded over time by minorities using the system to forward their ideals above our heritage. No true Brit is happy and that’s a fact.

What’s the difference between network marketing and running your own business?

with one comment

Whats the difference between network marketing and running your own business?

Network marketing is where you pay money to sell someone else’s product while they make a profit and you support the business during start up and then get cut out of the growth when it happens.

Running your own business means buying stock, advertising your product, covering your expenses and overheads and above all making a profit.

There is a unique business opportunity to promote and sell a complete range of grooming, fun and fashion products for men.

You have no cash outlay apart from your stock which is provided on credit at wholesale prices. So you can accurately calculate how much you need to make to turn a profit. As you choose your method of sales you can have anything from a retail shop to regular house parties. You are given full training and thanks to the web site you can make money while you sleep.

All advertising, web and phone support and brand marketing is done for you just like a franchise but without the cost.

If you’re serious about not wanting a boss and being the master.mistress of your own destiny get back to me and I’ll tell you all about it.

Is this a good opportunity?
The opportunity i have been offered is a range of mens grooming products, fun and adult items and fashion. The idea is that I buy the stock on credit from the supplier. I sell under licence in any way I like. All my customers are given a unique ID and from then on every time they purchase even from the web site, I get paid. Unlike Ann Summers and Avon a customer can only buy from the site with a unique id. If a customer registers they are sent an id and the nearest distributor is sent the details to make contact.

It seems like a fantastic idea and the product and back up seems excellent.

It’s UK based and the start up credit line is £500
All excellent points. Selling other companies products. McDonald’s, Bargain Booze, Tesco?
Company sustainability Avon is over 130 years old but I remember my mum asking the same question. Know your product. Absolutely spot on.
I don’t know male grooming but I do know about my product and this company provide it. NM is a great way to advertise any business and if you know a market but only have a small amount of time you can using this company. Once my customers are registered I make on everything they buy..

The idea is simple and effective and it’s aimed directly at men, also simple if not always effective. and the rep numbers are restricted to 1000 nationally so it wont get swamped either.

We all know about something but to start a business is difficult and expensive. This is a ready made supplier of a whole range of grooming, adult, fun and fashion. The grooming range is ‘the in’ the the site sells everything else for you. And the advertising will be done for you.
There are lots of NM opportunities but they aren’t real businesses are they?

This is a real business you can grow yourself. You can expand your range of goods and you can build your business around your own experience and expertise.

When I set up my first business I needed £5,000 before i opened the door and that was over 10 years ago it’s probably closer to £20,000 now.

I have immediate access to £1,500 of stock, a full web site and a range and diversity of products that is growing all the time and that I could never hope to supply from my own resources.

This has got to be the best £1,000 I have ever spent.
Victor can you please email me?

Cheers

Quick Marketing Strategy anyone??

with one comment

I own a Commerical Cleaning Franchise which charges me 17% in royalties and fees for selling me contracts and their reputable franchise brand name, in exchange they provide me with accounting, contracts (if i decide to keep purchasing from them), training (of staff), chemicals etc..I’ve decided its cheaper and probably better for me to do my own advertising and marketing to get new business. I have 0 max budget (to pay) for the actual media i will use. Can anyone help me come up with a marketing plan. I want mid-size contracts and wanna target decent size properties. The plan should help pick a niche clientelle, break down of budget usage (how and why) and any creative means to sell cleanig sevices..

UK Recruitment Franchise?

with one comment

Hi we are a company that are offering recruitment/sales/HR consultants the opportunity to work from home running their own business.

I would be interested to know if this is something that people would invest in? We are due to go live in august with 3 consultants on board already. The cost is less than £1000 per month which i believe is reasonable.

Your feedback would be greatly appreciated
Please mail if you are interested

Symptoms of being over 25?

with one comment

1. You leave clubs before the end to "beat the rush".
2. You get more excited about having a roast on a Sunday than going clubbing.
3. You stop dreaming of becoming a professional footballer and start dreaming of having a son who might instead.
4. Before throwing the local paper away, you look through the property section.
5. You prefer Later with Jools Holland to Top of the Pops.
6. All of a sudden, Tony Blair is not 46, he’s only 46.
7. Before going out anywhere, you ask what the parking is like.
8. Rather than throw a knackered pair of trainers out, you keep them because they’ll be all right for the garden.
9. You buy your first ever T-shirt without anything written on it.
10. Instead of laughing at the innovations catalogue that falls out of the newspaper, you suddenly see both the benefit and money saving properties of a plastic winter cover for your garden bench and an electronic mole repellent for the lawn. Not to mention the plastic man for the car to determine would-be thieves.
11. Sure, you have more disposable income, but everything you want to buy costs between 200 and 500 quid.
12. Pop music all starts to sound crap.
13. You opt for Pizza Express over Pizza Hut because they don’t have any pictures on the menus and anyway, they do a really nice half-bottle of house white.
14. You become powerless to resist the lure of self-assembly furniture.
15. You always have enough milk in.
16. To compensate for the fact that you have little desire to go
clubbing, you instead frequent really loud tapas restaurants and franchise pubs with wacky names in the mistaken belief that you have not turned into your parents.
17. While flicking through the TV channels, you happen upon C4′s Time Team with Tony Robinson. You get drawn in.
18. The benefits of a pension scheme become clear.
19. You go out of your way to pick up a colour chart from B&Q.
20. You wish you had a shed.
21. You have a shed.
22. You actually find yourself saying "They don’t make ‘em like that
anymore" and "I remember when there were only 3 TV channels" and "Of course, in my day…."
23. Radio 2 play more songs you know than Radio 1 – and Jimmy Young has some really interesting guests on.
24. Instead of tutting at old people who take ages to get off the bus,
you tut at schoolchildren whose diction is poor.
25. When sitting outside a pub you become envious of their hanging
baskets.
26. You make an effort to be in and out of the curry house by 11.
27. You come face to face with your own mortality for the first time, and the indestructibility of the 20s gives way to a realisation that you are but passing through this life and if you don’t settle down soon and have kids you’ll have no-one to look after you when you’re old and frail and incontinent and you can’t go on p**sing your life up against a wall forever and think of how many brain cells you’re destroying every time a swift half turns into 10 pints, and look at that, a full set of stainless steel
saucepans for 99 quid, they cost as much as 35 each if you buy them
separately, and you get a milk pan thrown in, …
28. You find yourself saying "is it cold in here or is it just me?"

Require franchising information.?

with one comment

Currently looking at a change of career (financial services) and looking at business opportunities. I could borrow significant amount on the basis that i have a track record of success (limited company). I am of the opinion that the franchise route is the most realistic for someone who lacks creative ideas. Any relaible info on regarding where on net to look for franchise opportunities / information – any to avoid. Why is there a limited amount of information on the answers section for this information.

Website motto in Latin ???

with 5 comments

I’m a rather new freelance web designer/developer & on the edge of finishing my website offering services of making Websites to other businesses/individuals, etc.

I’m stuck on choosing a "motto" for my website & wonder if people around could possibly help me choosing the right one. I’m hoping to have a "Latin" motto.

I’ve chosen the following few so far & wonder which one people around prefer the most. Whereever I know, I’ve given the Latin equivalent, but in cases, I’ve no idea & hence any help would be appreciated.

Lastly, whereever possible, I’ve mentioned the MOTTO, LATIN equivalent and REASON for choosing that particular motto.

PS: I’LL ADD MORE TEXT
1)
MOTTO: your presence matters
LATIN: don’t know the Latin equivalent (so any help would be appreciated)
REASON: this motto emphasise on the importance of company/individual’s availability on the Internet by means of having a website.

2)
MOTTO: from possibility to reality
LATIN: a posse ad esse
REASON: perhaps emphasising on the thought of having a website coming to reality & between these two comes "our own Webdesign company" i.e. a MEANS to turn the possibility to reality

PS: COUPLE OF MORE TO CHOOSE FROM
3)
MOTTO: from the beginning to the end
LATIN: ab initio means "from the beginning" AND "ad finem" means "to the end" BUT "ab ovo usque ad mala" means "from the egg to apples" (literally) but broadly speaking it could mean "from the beginning to the end"
REASON: bearing in mind that our company would take care of everything from A to Z i.e. FROM the thought of having a website (followed by design graphics/logo, creating layout, then adding content, etc). TO choosing domain & then registering website on search engine, etc.

4)
MOTTO: the utmost limit
LATIN: ultima thule
REASON: haven’t a clue but it seems short & sounds interesting

Any additional recommendation along with its Latin equivalent would be welcomed.
