How to break into investment banking/finance?
I have several years of work experience in market research and on the editorial/publishing side of a business think-tank. I’ve come to realize that I’m in a dead-end position and don’t see myself spending further decades in market research or in a business publishing role.
I’m able to network with many finance professionals among my acquaintances. I do have a business degree, but am not specialised in finance or accounting. Unfortunately, I’m probably too old to be considered for formal trainee programmes. Are there "softer" experienced hire positions within investment banks that someone with my background can realistically aim for in order to get his foot in the door? How do I pitch myself as a career-changer?
How do I get a regular column/blog on a recognised magazine/newspaper/their website?
I’m working for a man who wants me to improve his recognisability in the business world, as part of my shell STEP project. I am but a 20 year old student, and the web is not being forthcoming with ideas. Do blogs/articles/speaking engagements etc just get offered, not sought? I’ve been on various publications and their websites don’t tell you how you can get published with them!
Am I missing something???
Thanks for all your help.
how can i find a web design job (in leeds) without going through an agency!?
I am searching online and can only find agency work, where the salaries are a lot lower than I had been led to believe!also, to gain experience in designing sites and produce a portfolio, is it a good idea to approach local small businesses who dont have websites and offer to design them one for free (or reduced costs)
Which of the 4 universities is the best for Msc in Finance?
Hi everyone, I am thinking of pursuing a masters in finance in the UK. I have 4 business schools in mind, Cass business school, Imperial College Business School, Warwick business school, and Lancaster Business School. I believe all 4 allows me to take up courses on C.F.A. If you are choosing these 4 uni, how will you rank them and why? Which one has the best reputation internationally, and in the UK? Are there any better ones in the UK? Thanks.
can a website really make a lot of money??
i have an idea for a business….which is a website!
i dont want to release too many details but so far their seems to be a lot of expenses.
how much would a domain and web space be?
i need to be able to stream live video and have archives for previous events.
if it costs a lot and i know its a really good opportunity…would a yearly subscription of around €60/£40 be sufficient income?
as i can see the amount of members being quite numerous!

Starting a price comparison website?
I am 16 and want to start a business, I went through some ideas, and kept narrowing everything down, I decided to start a web based business, and to go into affiliate marketing, and the most successful affiliates are those of price comparison websites. but there are a huge amount of already existing price comparison websites of all types,
Is there any room in this market?
How much work would this involve?
Would this be expensive to start?
Would it be complicated?
How profitable is it likely to be?
Any domain name suggestions,
Thanks =]
What degree for a career in corporate finance?
I’d really like someone who knows about this proffession to help me. I know its kind of late considering that my results come out next week, and if I get ABB i will be off to loughborough to do systems engineering, but i only picked this cos i’m good at maths and physics. and in my heart i know i’d LOVE to go into corporate finance cos i love maths and business. like investment banking or something. and well i was wondering is systems engineering gonna help me at all? or shall i think about changing to something like banking and finance or business or something? does it matter a lot? engineering does give good skills in maths and project work and management skills. help!
